While she was set on becoming a journalist prior to attending college, April Rushing’s career path made a pivot before it even started when a college advisor suggested she take a TV class. Her fascination with the entertainment industry led her to change her major to Mass Communications. The summer before her senior year, she applied to and was accepted as an intern at Entertainment Tonight on the Paramount Studios lot. She made such an impression that two days before graduating from Loma Linda University with a BA in Mass Communications and a minor in Business Management, she accepted a job offer from the iconic television show as a production assistant. Her stint in production was short-lived, as she soon pivoted to finance and began working at the premiere independent film studio The Samuel Goldwyn Company, and few years later at the entertainment giant Warner Bros. After 10 years on the corporate side of entertainment, she made yet another pivot, this time immersed herself in luxury and lifestyle public relations. After working at boutique PR agencies for several years, she started her own agency, Rushing Media.

As an independent publicist, she was instrumental in securing major exposure around the world for emerging talent and brands. She also co-founded a brand ambassador agency that provided talent for live activations for corporations such as Ford, NBC Sports and Verizon, to name a few. Once again making a pivot, she rejoined the workforce as an employee with the extensive experience and expanded perspective as a leader, negotiator and business owner. She restarted the communications department at a Los Angeles based infant adoption and foster care agency. From there she joined the international nonprofit, Dress for Success, as the Development Manager for Los Angeles. After the Los Angeles office shut down she moved to Maryland to take a contract position as a Senior Media Communications consultant for the Federal Government. April is currently an Organizational Communication Strategy consultant.

Dedicated to causes that affect Angelenos over the years, April has supported grass roots fundraising efforts and nonprofits with boots on the ground at notable organizations that include The Midnight Mission, The Center in Hollywood, Level Ground, Sepia Art Collective, ArtShare and now also Well Dressed!
